about South West Trains
I hear a lot of people complain about South West Trains and extensive delays. I use this service regularly to travel from Waterloo to Hampshire to visit my parents. So far I have never had a problem. The train arrives twice an hour and besides being a bit full in the evening, it is usually a pleasant journey. The train itself is clean and the staff are friendly. I have only been delayed once when we stopped at a signal light and that is hardly their fault. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the hefty price tag - £25. Are people just moaning for the sake of it or have I just been lucky with South West Trains?? over 2 years ago via web

about Flight Delays at Easyjet
Bumped off my flight due to overbooking with very few apologies. First and LAST time I'll ever use Easyjet. over 2 years ago via web

I know most TV ads are less then honest and terribly annoying, but beauty ads are just ridiculous. Take one gorgeous Eva Longoria and try and convince us that a specific mascara is responsible for those lashes. Or try Cheryl Cole promising that it really is the decently priced shampoo that makes her hair so amazing.
Until you read the fine print at the bottom.
"Styled with lash inserts" or "Styled with hair extensions".
Why on earth would I buy a product that will only make me look like that IF I use extensions on top of it??
Really, either the product alone just doesn't work or celebs can't bear to let us see what they really look like, with just make up on.
Or am I being picky? I suppose at least the advertisers have to tell us when "inserts" are used. But it just doesn't work for me. over 2 years ago via web
I have been very surprised for a long time that the regulatory bodies don't take issue with the cosmetics companies' use of teenage models to promote skin beauty and 'anti-aging' products. It's one thing to suggest that a car will make you more attractive to the opposite sex, or that a mobile phone will make you more popular, but how can a cream turn you into a teenager? over 2 years ago via web

The Royal Mail might be going through a bit of a bad patch... but overall, is it really that bad? Mail is delivered twice a day AND on Saturdays...and in general you post something and it reaches your destination.
In South Africa, we weren't so lucky. Mail arrives once a day, 5 days a week. And every time I sent or received a parcel for the last year it either never arrived or when it did (very very late) it had been opened and something stolen out of it. My gran even had a pair of socks stolen sent to her by her sister. Seriously.
I'm not saying that the Post Office in SA is entirely useless, I could just have really bad luck. My point is that the UK has a service that works - most of the time. Surely postal workers are entitled to good working conditions and have a right to strike to ensure that they get them?
The Royal Mail is generally very effective and if it takes a strike to maintain that effectiveness, then maybe we should grin and bear it. At least it is only temporary. over 2 years ago via web
Twice a day? Not around where I live! over 2 years ago via web
I read that the Royal Mail made a special effort to reduce deliveries to once a day at most, specifically to kill the twice a day post. I've had plenty go missing, but it does generally work...although, I quite frankly don't know why we don't get post on a Sunday too. over 2 years ago via web

about Overcrowding
I used to live with my sister in South Africa and she has twins meaning we went everywhere with a double pram. And honestly... people are ridiculous! Obviously you have to take a lift with a pram and when the time comes to exit, all these people try and get in. Surely logic dictates that before you can get into a small box, the people in it need to get out. But no... and they looked surprised when you point this out.
I now just moved to the UK and found that the problem is universal. Try getting off a bus or tube when 10 people want to get on. I love that the man with the mike on the train platform has to tell you to wait to get on until everyone else has gotten off.
Are we all this self-involved and desperate not to be left behind that we can't think logically?? over 2 years ago via web
I have friends with twins who have also experienced this problem - and that of not being able to fit through most shop doorways/down aisles of shops etc ... having said that when I visited London a few years ago with my 3 children (then aged 2, 5 and 7) I found everyone to be very helpful - helping me up/down escalators, in/out tubes, on/off buses etc with the pushchair and 2 small children in tow. Even busy commuters took time to help me figure out which tube to get on, people were so friendly and so nice .... even the police helped make sure my kids got a good view for the changing of the guards. Maybe I'm just lucky??? over 2 years ago via web
Busy commuters and the police are people too - and helpful more than they get credit for. over 2 years ago via web
Definitely a major source of stress in the morning when people insist on barging on the tube before you've got off. Or barging ahead of you when you're politely waiting for those alighting over 2 years ago via web
