Child on Board signs

Nobody wants to display a P plate when they pass their driving test and new drivers prefer to be incompetent but anonymous. Nobody should leave a L plate on a car when the learner is not driving(I shall allow an exception for a driving school car) Why do people leave a 'baby on board' sign on the car when no baby is present? These signs are of no use at all but I believe the original idea was for the Police to search for a child if the car is involved in a crash. A good example of a potentially good idea but the family members using the sign find it too much trouble to remove it when inappropriate. Result - The signs are useless and the people who misuse these signs are stupid. Many of the offenders would be better displaying a P plate! . over 2 years ago via web

I have to admit. I do find these signs very silly indeed that people have in the back of the car.

I never notice them when I'm driving and they don't suddenly make me drive better.

And, we have one in our car. Not me who put it there. over 2 years ago via web

The implication is that somehow the amount we want don't want to crash into and injure/kill someone varies with the age of the victim. Perhaps you should start selling stickers that say "Be reckless, old people on board". over 2 years ago via web

In repsonse to captaindarling I would be interested to know how many more women drivers with children respond to those signs. I have children and one of those little signs and whilst I don't moderate my driving if i see someone else with a sign I reckon that psycologically it might make the owner of the kids and the sign feel like they are adding an extra bit of protection for their offspring. Call me mad, but I do bizarrely feel safer having one.

So, I say, keep the signs. Anyway, it is also possible that having the sign might be useful to those who frequently forget to pick up their kids or indeed that they actually have them in the first place! over 2 years ago via web

I have heard that paramedics find these signs useful in severe road accidents where cars are smashed out of shape as it alerts them to the fact that there may be a child on board over 2 years ago via web
