Just being bullied by Foxtons now. I'm leaving the apartment - which I rented for almost 2 years, paid directly on card to avoid any delays - and they want now to come anytime for viewings. They want to arrange a viewing for Friday night, and as I say it's not convenient - oh wow, why it's not convenient on a Friday night - the manager from Canary Wharf branch, Dominick calls to bully. After saying he won't let me talk, he says I'm rude for talking over him and he doesn't know how 'you people talk in your country' - very professional of him, to which I hang up. Then he lets a voice mail saying it's rude to hang up - because he is such a gentleman - they will come anyway, and that my apartment is messy and looks like an students apartment. I filled a complaint, but you just know they probably won't do anything about it. Bullies, after they get your money, you never heard from them again until they have something to charge you with... about 1 year ago via web

Hello Sulamita... there's plenty of others who get annoyed by Foxtons. I set Quiet Riots up and am trying to figure out what we can do about it. What would you do? about 1 year ago via web

Hi

I read some people talking about complaining to Watchdog from BBC, or Mary Porter on channel 4. There is The Property Ombudsman at http://www.tpos.co.uk/make_complaint_rents.htm . But I don't know exactly how to do deal with it. They get away because it's all sort of small stuff that most people can't really afford to fight for. For instance, I'm moving to Germany, so I can't really spend too much energy on that, I just don't have the time. I would support any initiative, but I'm not sure what to do or if makes any difference.

I made a complain and they called me back, the manager in the area will call me tomorrow. I will tell him about many online complains I read, and how bad that is for business. If I ever read these before, I wouldn't have contacted them. Let's see if they care about their image... about 1 year ago via web

'Rude' police sent on manners course after surge in incivility complaints By REBECCA CAMBER

Rude and sarcastic police officers are to get a lesson in manners after a surge in complaints about incivility.

Chiefs have singled out officers who swear at members of the public and ordered them to attend a training course to make them more polite.

Hundreds of officers and 999 call handlers from Greater Manchester Police have been sent on the course to learn to 'mind their Ps and Qs'.

There's no call to be rude, but I think I might lose my rag with some of the grief the police have to put up with these day. over 2 years ago via web

Also with regard to rude customers, I am often seriously irritated by shoppers at my local Tesco (and at other stores), who are not Blue Badge holders, who make use of the disabled parking bays. It is thoroughly inconsiderate and can prevent genuinely disabled people from convenient access to the store. It may even be an inconvenience to everyone else, because the number of disabled parking spaces allocated has to make allowance for the level of inappropriate use.

There seems very little that can be done about it: because it is on commercial premises it cannot be considered to be a parking offence. I therefore invite Quiet Rioters to suggest ways in which this issue could be addressed. For a start, I would strongly recommend that no attempt should be made to directly challenge perpetrators. A guess at the mindset of at least some of those involved would suggest that such a course of action could be seriously detrimental to one’s physical wellbeing. Wheel clamping by Tesco staff sounds appealing but, I’m afraid, would be completely over the top. How about naming and shaming? Could Tesco staff be persuaded to apply a large ‘peelable’ label to a perpetrator’s windscreen stating ‘Inconsiderately Parked’? One may be surprised at how many would be dissuaded from repeat offending by such a course of action. I suspect, however, that Tesco would baulk at even this level of admonishment to a customer. Also, if the driver arrived when the label was being applied the above ‘physical wellbeing’ risk could become a concern.

I look forward to suggestions.

I entirely agree with you. There are notices up asking people not to park there if not disabled but so many ignore them, so it seems reasonable that Tesco put a notice on their windscreen. I once witnessed the scene of a disabled person parking in a 'Parent and Child' bay as the disabled bays were full of cars without Blue badges. A father (with toddler) in the next bay got very aggressive with the lone female disabled driver because she had no child with her. She tried explaining that the disabled bays were all full and he swore at her and walked away. Perhaps Tesco's could put a person outside on patrol to at least dissuade offenders. over 2 years ago via web
